Dive into the creative possibilities with TouchDesigner in this beginner-oriented workshop.
You’ll learn the essentials of the software and explore how to use different mediums to interface with the program. We will introduce things like audio, webcam, mouse and keyboard interactivity to create dynamic TouchDesigner projects and real-time interactive interfaces.
What you will learn:
- Introduction to the TouchDesigner Interface
- Comprehensive introduction to the operator families and how node-oriented programming works.
- Explore essential operators and how to create and modify them
- Learn how to mess with and connect different parameters together
- Feed in signals from audio, webcam and mouse and keyboard and link them to other parts of the program
- Experiment with 3D by setting up a simple render network
- Make an interactive generative sketch using the previous skills and customize it
- Output videos and images
This workshop is ideal for artists, designers, and anyone interested in being playful and creating experimental interactive systems without getting weighed down in technical complexity.

- Laptop with webcam
- Mouse with a scroll wheel
- We have webcams and mouses that can be borrowed as well

Dylan Cruz (@memocrime) is an interactive audio-visual artist who pushes human interactions with art, utilizing sound, light, touch and smell until the audience dissolves into participants.
He is currently Berlin-based, working as a freelancer for events and musical artists, creating interactive exhibitions with TouchDesigner.
His distinctive approach to upcoming media technologies and deep collaborative drive lets him bridge worlds that rarely intersect, from working with people who have never entered the TouchDesigner sphere to proficient creators and artists.
